My channel niche
I will start by revealing my channel niche and how I found it. I wanted to start as a tech and vlog channel, but it felt like a lot of work for little return, and I couldn't find anything to keep me going.
I then started live streaming, which has been incredible but doesn't build an audience. This is when I started reacting to gaming content for a while, which managed to build up an audience for my gaming live streams. However, game trailers come out in waves, so I had significant gaps to fill with more content.
This is when I discovered a wave. A creator named Ludwig reacted to a series called Skibidi Toilet. Please! I know what you're thinking! Skibidi Toilet? Seriously?!? It's a bunch of brain rot for children, and it's cringe!
That's how the series started. It was just a meme on the YouTube Poop generation, but then it grew into something more. I began to react to the episodes released by the original creator named Dafuq Boom. Then, other creators began making their own Skibidi universes, so I also reacted to them. Skibidi Multiverse, Skibidi Wars and Skibidi Zombie universe.
The content I could react to was a treasure trove as my channel grew. I went from 500 subscribers to over 1,000 and eventually became a YouTube partner. Now, I have over 6,000 subscribers, and the growth continues.
How much have I made in 2024?
Here’s the juicy total of how much I made in 2024, my first year as a YouTube partner. I became a partner from the 1st of January, 2024. This is special because I can use the entire year every time I show my earnings.
As you can see, my total is £415.61, which is way more than I thought I would ever earn. Let alone earn that amount in my first year.
Breaking down my 2024 YouTube earnings
The above shows where my earnings came from. The highest earnings are from Watch page ads, which total £186.04 (44.8% of my earnings).
Next are super chats, memberships and gifted memberships, which come from my live streams. I stream five days a week on weekdays. Sometimes, I miss days due to holidays, sickness, or being busy, but I try to stick to this habit. If I can, I sometimes stream on weekends to make up for lost time.
Most of this money came from two generous viewers who enjoy my content and hanging out.
YouTube Premium are for people who watch without ads. You can make more money per viewer from Premium members, but the number of them is lower than people who don’t pay for Premium.
Short feed ads are Short videos. While shorts can generate many views, the return on revenue is low compared to long-form videos.
Super thanks are another purchase from live streams, where people like to send lovely messages.
Here is a breakdown of my month-to-month earnings throughout 2024. March and February were my best months due to the two generous viewers who purchased and gifted memberships. Unfortunately, their hype was short-lived, but I am still grateful for their generosity.
